Abstract |
The EPICA deep drill site was at Dome C, 75°S, 123°E, elevation 3250m. Mean annual temperature was -55℃, and accumulation is 2.7cm of ice. In a temporary camp located at the permanent Dome C station, the EPICA ice core was drilled in a large tent. The drilling was controlled from a heated cabin, and the core was processed on site in a large scientific facility. |
